Vakula is a Ukrainian producer, DJ, live artist and sound researcher whose work is defined by a highly personal approach to rhythm, texture, space and analogue sound.
Over more than a decade, he has developed a musical language that moves freely across house, techno, dub, jazz, ambient, disco, psychedelic music and experimental electronics. Vakula draws different genres together through deep listening, improvisation and an instinctive understanding of form.
Production sits at the centre of his practice. Working extensively with modular systems, synthesizers, drum machines, effects and acoustic instruments, he approaches equipment as instruments in their own right. Signal paths, modulation, saturation and resonance become part of the composition, giving his recordings a physical quality that can feel spacious and detailed while retaining weight and movement.
His catalogue ranges from dance-floor material to more abstract and exploratory work, often carrying a strong sense of landscape and memory. Nature, space and his native Ukraine frequently become part of the atmosphere and emotional architecture of the music.
The same openness shapes his DJ sets. Vakula builds long-form narratives through contrast, tension and release, allowing techno to dissolve into dub, jazz to open into house, and psychedelic or experimental recordings to sit naturally alongside club music. The result is fluid, immersive and unmistakably his own.
His independent labels are another extension of this practice. Leleka became an outlet for more experimental work, while Bandura developed around material with a stronger dance-floor orientation. In 2026 he expanded this independent catalogue with Pure Delay, a new label focused on his evolving approach to electronic sound.
Alongside his work as an artist, Vakula has developed a mastering practice for other producers and labels, bringing the same attention to tone, dynamics, depth and musical structure that defines his own recordings.
Across production, performance, label work and mastering, his practice is connected by a simple principle: sound is treated as a living material, shaped through patience, precision, instinct and imagination.
