CERPINTXT | EXPERIMENT INTRINSIC

CERPINTXT

Cerpintxt is an Egyptian sound artist and vocalist; an electroacoustic progress report concerned with generating an invented language of a particular strain of softness through auto-destruction, phonetic entropy, and augmented instrumentation. The textural counterparts of her sound rely on wind instruments, broken turntablism, prepared zither, seismic microphones, generative composition, tape recorders and modular synthesis. The hauntological element of her work explores a form of sonic activism against the weaponization of love in Egypt.

Some of her projects include an improvisational synesthesia-inducing musical game system on the fragmentation and decontextualizion of memories, site-specific works in the pharaonic temple Serabit El Khadim and the mountains of the Sinai Peninsula, and ethnic heritage projects documenting music of Bedouin tribes. She curates the London-based event Boundary Condition: an audiovisual durational immersion for the rabidly sentimental: investigating the parallelization between dark-jazz, hauntology, and music concrete as nostalgia-centric practices.
