b e i n g – s o u n d is a live electronic project performing ritual bass.
Inspired by ambient, bass music, dub, minimalism, techno, and various sacred music traditions.

The bass rituals are layers of a variety of sound sources: live singing bowls and sansulas, reverberating whispered half-melodies, unraveling organic spirals of wooden clicks, the tidal sweeps of a granular synthesizer, the geological thumps of subsonic sine waves, dusty loops from old vinyl records, and hazy recordings of distant singing whales. The result is a world familiar, yet vast and open to the unknown. There are no lines here, no horizon, just a misty luminous exploration of space, presence, listening, and relating.

b e i n g – s o u n d is a collaborative art and music project between Joro-Boro (DJ, music producer, sound designer, and artist) and Keena Maya (sound artist, instrumentalist, DJ, and architectural designer).

b e i n g – s o u n d has presented and performed in galleries, museums, public spaces, and festivals across the United States and internationally since 2016. They have received grants from institutions in the United States, Greece, and the United Kingdom. They released their debut EP ‘At Home’ in 2020 and are currently working on a new set of releases.
